Three Tugs and Part of HOBC at Bishton
Network Rail 73212 and 73213 were both involved in Engineering work which took place at Moorgate and Cricklewood over the weekend of October 4th/5th 2008. The 'EDs' which have recently been re-snowplough fitted worked the 6G52 22:37 Hoo Junction to Kentish Town on October 3rd, and then the next day (4th October) they worked the 6G52 08:10 West Hampstead to Woking engineers, which ran 164minutes late. I photographed 73212 and 73213 hauling the 6G52 at Egham. Many thanks to 73109, Marc Ely, Lloydy and Derek Riley for the info.

Network Rail 'EDs' in some brightness
10/10/08 Due to a recent incident on the Whatley branch, there have been additional trains running to Machen and Tytherington Quarries. On the 10th October 2008, 59203 hauls the 6B84 Acton Yard to Machen Quarry stone train at Somerton on the relief line. Many thanks to the lizard, rene1015 and Grey for their info.

EWS 66238 leads Mainline Blue 60044, EWS 60024 and another shed as the 0R10 Margam Depot to Bescot Yard, the convoy passes Gatcombe in lovely morning sun. Big Many thanks to Greg for the info.

Mainline Blue Tug44, Aggregate Industries 59005
A welcome return for D444 (50044) Exeter to the main line, which still surprisingly carries its Br Two Tone Green livery hauls faded Br Blue revised Large Logo 50049 Defiance on the 1Z49 Manchester Piccadilly to Minehead bluerailtours which went via Shrewsbury and the marches. The train ran as the 1Z49 (despite 50044 carring 1Z50, 1Z50 was the returning trip from Minehead). 57601 was put on the rear of the train for insurance. I photographed the train coming over  the Bishton Flyover, at Creech and at Blue Anchor. D444 had struggled with an oil leak and was 14minutes down at Severn Tunnel Junction with 57601 providing some power from the rear. Cotswold Rail 47828 Joe Strummer leads ex Porterbrook 47810 Captain Sensible, barrier car 6336 and First Great Western MTU powercar 43009. This was the 11:10 5Z86 Brush to Landore move, which I photographed at Bishton. The train departed Brush 56minutes late and is over 45minutes late at this Location. The Water Canon Season (RHTT Sandite) has now started and EWS operate Water Canons between Bristol, Yeovil and Taunton. On the 25th October 2008, The 3S23 ran with 67002 and 67008 as the 3S23 07:18 Yeovil to Bristol Barton Hill via Salisbury and Bath Spa, but due to the line being shut between Bath and Bristol with engineering works at Bathampton, the 3S23 went to Taunton, then went to Bristol Barton Hill via Highbridge. I photographed the train passing Worle Station.

EWS Skips on the Water Canons
 
The Colas/Seco Rail, Rail Head Treatment Train based in Par, was running on Sunday 26th October 2008. The Usuaual locomotives, 47727 and 47749 Rebecca and Demelza hauled the 3S11 11:12 Par to Par Water Canons via Newton Abbot, Paignton and Hackney Yard. The pair ran on time, and were very dirty as they have been working on the water canon workings (RHTT) since the middle of September. Colas Rail 47739 has now also entered traffic so that should join 47727 and 47749. 47727 and 47749 pass Barn Owl Bridge near Aller Junction whilst returning from Paignton to Newton Abbot before they head back to Par.

Network Rail 37170 now 97302 with 37100 now 97301 were on test on October 28th 2008. They ran light engine from Derby to Barrow Hill and made several trips. The 0Z97 09:45 from Derby exits Milford Tunnel at Chevin for Barrow Hill.

 Recently repainted, 37603 which was one of the last to remain in Eurostar livery had been repainted at Brush Traction, Loughborough into DRS Compass livery and 20309 which has also been repainted into DRS Compass livery at Crewe were both out on the 29th October 2008, on the 6M67 Bridgewater to Crewe Nuclear flasks, and it was lead by 37603 on the return with 20309 tucked behind. The nuclear flasks were FNA 550023 and FNA 550033 and I photographed the train at Bagstone and Wickwar. Many thanks to the lizard, rene1015, Derek Riley, Shrek and others for the info/updates.

DRS Compass Flasks, High Peak and 66533
 
Hanson liveried 59103 was used on the 30th October 2008, on an EWS 59/60 booked 6B80 Westbury Yard to Machen and 6C83 Machen to Westbury Yard loaded Hanson stone return. The train was over 32minutes early when I photographed it on the main passing Bishton level crossing. Many thanks to the lizard for the info.
